This is the baseline that keeps your KRX alive.
Fluids aren’t just maintenance—they’re the difference between a machine that lasts and one that slowly eats itself. Get this wrong, and nothing else you bolt on matters.
Fluid Capacities (2020–2021 KRX 1000)
- Engine Oil: 3.3 US quarts (with filter)
- Transmission: 1.4 US quarts
- Front Differential: 0.85 US quarts
Recommended Fluid Types
Engine Oil:
- 10W-40 (standard recommendation)
- 5W-40 (cold weather)
- 15W-40 (hot weather)
Transmission & Front Differential:
- 80W-90 gear oil (GL-5)
- Recommended Upgrade: 75W-90 synthetic (front diff for
- smoother locker engagement)
Brand Insight (Real-World Use)
- Shell Rotella T6 (5W-40)
- Mobil Delvac (5W-40 / 15W-40)
- Amsoil (high ZDDP options)
Why it matters:
KRX engines use flat tappet valvetrain design—this requires higher levels of ZDDP (zinc/phosphorus) for proper wear protection. Many modern oils don’t have enough.
